The Lord Razu

Behind the Track

I wrote The Lord Razu when I was at a turning point in life.

Initially, the song came from being upset with a friend who felt I was betraying him by making music without him. It started as a diss track, but I also mixed in my feelings toward the music industry—how so many songs sounded the same, just different artists and different hooks, while the lyrics often felt copied.

The subtext is really me talking about my life and some of the emotional state I was in at the time, while also mixing in the fantasy of being a ninja. I was 19, so I had a lot of anger and emotion, which is why the song translates in such a dark way.

In 2022, I relocated to Oakland, California. Before I left Virginia, I wanted to do something in remembrance of the original song, so I remastered "Rap Game" and made a music video for it.

In a way, it became a chance to revisit something I created at 19 before beginning a completely different chapter of my life.
